The data below show the decrease in depression symptoms as measured by the Beck Depression Inventory, a patient self-report measure. As such, the scores for each patient and the average score for the group of all patients is a product of their, not my, perception of their symptoms of depression and how these symptoms decrease as patients move through Cognitive Therapy.  The dots represent the average BDI score for the group and the vertical lines above and below each dot represent one standard deviation above and below that average group score. A standard deviation is the typical fluctuation of scores around a group average.  Standard deviations allow you to see the range in which scores fall. The red line is a "line of best fit" that shows the trend in depression scores across assessment times.
At the initial evaluation session, patients' average BDI score is in the Severe range of depressed symptoms.
At the 3 -7 assessment time, patients' depression symptoms
are in the Minimal range.
I cannot guarantee that you or any other individual patient will experience changes in depression exactly like this.  However, since these scores are for the group of all my current male and female patients (45 total), it is very likely that your decrease in symptoms of depression (as reflected in your BDI scores) will be similar.
